Privacy Policy for Smart Delete
This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Delete handles information when you use the Smart Delete mobile app.
Smart Delete is designed to find duplicate or visually matching photos and videos stored on your device, let you review the matches, and remove only the items you choose to delete.

Information Smart Delete accesses
To provide the app's core functionality, Smart Delete may access:
- photos and videos stored on your device
- media metadata needed for duplicate review, such as file name, file size, creation date, duration, and dimensions
- device media-library identifiers used by the operating system to display and delete the files you select
Smart Delete accesses this information only so it can:
- scan your media library
- calculate duplicate fingerprints
- group matching items for review
- keep one protected original in each duplicate group
- delete items you explicitly choose to remove
How your data is used
Smart Delete uses accessed media and metadata only to run the duplicate-detection and review workflow inside the app.
In the current app build:
- photo and video analysis is performed locally on your device
- Smart Delete does not maintain user accounts
- Smart Delete does not create a cloud backup of your media
- Smart Delete does not upload your media or scan results to our servers
When you choose to delete items, deletion is carried out through your device's media-library APIs after your confirmation.
Data collection and sharing
In the current app build:
- Smart Delete does not collect your photos or videos to our servers
- Smart Delete does not sell your personal data
- Smart Delete does not share your photos or videos with third parties
- Smart Delete does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs
If a future version adds ads, analytics, or remote services, this Privacy Policy will need to be updated before that version is released.
Permissions
Smart Delete requests access to photos and videos because broad media access is required for its duplicate-detection workflow.
The Android app manifest also includes basic network permissions. In the current app build, those permissions are not used to upload your photos or videos to our servers.
Data retention
Smart Delete does not keep a server-side copy of your media or scan results.
Media analysis results are generated locally on your device during app use. If you uninstall the app, any app-local data stored on your device is removed by the operating system according to its normal behavior.
Security
We aim to limit access to the minimum data needed for Smart Delete's core functionality. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but Smart Delete is designed to minimize data exposure by processing media locally instead of sending it to a remote backend.
Children's privacy
Smart Delete is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
